Our Origins

John Clemmence, our founder, has a formidable career spanning over four decades. Born in Kent, John worked in central London before moving to Leeds in 1977. Prior to establishing Clemmence & Co, John spent 15 years as a partner in a national firm of Chartered Accountants. Throughout his career, John has developed a comprehensive understanding of accountancy and taxation matters, guiding his team to provide expert advice to our clients.

Our Services

As a full-service accounting firm, we offer a wide range of professional services to cater to the diverse needs of our clients. Our services include:

• Accounts: We prepare financial accounts on an annual basis for various entities, including limited companies, sole traders, and partnerships. We also provide ancillary services, such as the preparation and submission of benefits and expenses forms P11D and confirmation statements to Companies House.
• Company Taxation: We handle corporation tax returns, advising clients on their corporation tax liability and due dates for payment. We also deal with matters raised by HM Revenue and Customs and respond to routine tax correspondence throughout the year.
• Personal Taxation: We prepare annual self-assessment tax returns for individuals and partnerships, submitting them to HM Revenue and Customs. We advise on tax payable and due dates for payment, as well as providing guidance on income tax, capital gains tax, and inheritance tax.
• Payroll Preparation: We maintain payroll records for clients on a weekly or monthly basis, providing details of PAYE and National Insurance liabilities. We also handle the submission of necessary forms to HM Revenue and Customs.
• VAT: We prepare quarterly VAT returns and submit them to HM Revenue and Customs. We advise clients on VAT due and offer guidance on all VAT matters.
