Our History

Founded in the nineteenth century, shortly after the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales was granted a Royal Charter in 1880, Smith Riches is a firm steeped in tradition. Frederick William Smith, who practised at 76 Cheapside, was admitted as Fellow of the Institute in 1881. In 1896, he was joined by Frederick John Riches, forming the partnership known as "Fred. W. Smith & Co." The practice was subsequently renamed "F.W. Smith, Riches & Co." in 1913.
