Hunter Jones Alton is a distinguished family-run business of Chartered Accountants, located in the historic town of Belper, Derbyshire. Our business was founded in 1927 by Albert Alton, Maurice Hunter, and Sidney Jones, and we have been proudly serving the local community and businesses of all sizes and industries ever since. Our senior partner, Geoffrey Alton, is the son of Albert Alton and is joined by his daughter, Fiona Alton, who are both Chartered Accountants. We are delighted to announce that our senior manager, Mrs Becky McKechnie, has recently become a Partner at our firm.

Our firm is a registered training office for the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), which means that we adhere to a strict code of ethics and professional standards. This association also gives us an excellent reputation with HM Revenue and Customs. We will provide you with detailed accounts, ensure that all necessary deadlines are met, and discuss and explain the accounts with you so that you can understand the figures and what they mean for your business.
• Taxation: We provide tax compliance services, including the preparation and submission of tax returns. We will also advise you on how to structure your business to minimize your tax liabilities.
• VAT: We can assist you with registering for VAT, preparing and submitting VAT returns, and advising you on VAT schemes that can help you save money.
• Cloud Accounting: We are experienced in using cloud-based accounting software, including Xero and Quickbooks. These systems offer many benefits, including real-time financial information, remote access, and easy collaboration with your accountant.
• Construction Industry (CIS): We can assist you with registering for the Construction Industry Scheme (CIS), preparing and submitting CIS returns, and advising you on how to comply with the CIS regulations.
